No. 6 Wrestling Remains Perfect in OAC Action with Defeat of Otterbein

BEREA, OHIO. – The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and sixth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling remained undefeated in Ohio Athletic Conference action as it defeated Otterbein University by a final score of 29-7 in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center

BW (16-2, 3-0 OAC) has now won 16 straight OAC matches and 1has knocked off 18 of its last 19 conference opponents. Otterbein (6-4, 1-3 OAC), who is just in its second season of wrestling, fell to 2-8 in OAC action.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore 141-pounder Aaron Kelly (Rocky River) as he won by pinfall in just 46 seconds. Kelly upped his record to 10-5 on the season and 21-11 in his career.

Earning a major decision victories were junior 174-pounder Justin Ransom (Madison) and junior All-OAC 184-pounder Zeckary Lehman (Akron/Revere). Ransom claimed the 12-3 victory as Ransom improved to 21-7 overall and 29-11 in his career. Lehman upped his record to 31-9 on the season and 45-15 in his career with the 11-2 win.

Picking up victories by decision were sophomore 133-pounder Dante Ginnetti (Poland/Seminary), freshman 149-pounder Stanley Bleich (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic), junior All-OAC 157-pounder Benjamin Hoof (Worthington/Thomas Worthington), junior All-American and All-OAC 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee) and senior 285-pounder Gabe Mahaney (Green).

Ginnetti, who improved to 24-13 on the season and 45-15 in his career, claimed an 11-7 win. Bleich upped his record to 15-6 on the season with an 8-1 victory. Hoof upped his record to 8-11 on the season and 30-17 in his career as he took the 8-2 win. Arroyo, who is fourth nationally ranked, won by a 14-12 margin to improve his team leading record to 33-6 overall and his career mark to 76-16. Mahaney upped his record to 28-8 overall and 63-29 in his career with a 1-0 victory.

BW is back in action on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27 when it travels to Wheaton, Illinois to compete in the annual Pete Willson Invitational hosted by Wheaton College in the King Arena. Action is slated to begin on Friday at 12 noon and at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets return to OAC action on Tuesday, January 30 when they travel to New Concord for a match against Muskingum University on Performance Court at 7:30 p.m.

BW hosts the 32nd annual John Summa Memorial Tournament on Saturday, February 3 inside the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 10 a.m.
