No. 6 Wrestling Defeats Muskingum to Remain Atop the OAC

NEW CONCORD, OHIO– The two-time defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion and sixth-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University wrestling remained a top the Ohio Athletic Conference standings as it defeated Muskingum University by a final score of 36-7 in the John Glenn High School Gymnasium. 

BW (17-2, 4-0 OAC) has now won 17straight OAC matches and has knocked off 19 of its last 20 conference opponents.  Muskingum (4-8, 0-4 OAC) has now lost six straight matches to the Yellow Jackets

The Yellow Jackets were led by senior 184-pounder Grant Rathburn (New Albany/Bishop Hartley) as he won by pinfall in 1:48.

Winning by technical fall were sophomore 133-pounder Charlie Nash (Norwalk) and junior All-American and All-OAC 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo (Maumee).  Nash picked up the victory by a score of 19-5 while Arroyo won by a score of 16-0.

Picking up major decision wins were sophomore 141-pounder Aaron Kelly (Rocky River) and senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC 197-pounder Tyler Maclellan (Medina/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy).  Kelly claimed the 10-2 victory while Maclellan took the 8-0 win.

Freshman 174-pounder Kevin Kelly (North Olmsted) won by forfeit.

Earning decision victories were freshman 149-pounder Michael Carpenter (Middleburg Heights/St. Edward) and freshman 157-pounder Trevor Scherf (Graytown/Oak Harbor).  Carpenter won by a score of 7-4 and Scherf took the 8-3 victory.
