McQueary Wins Back-to-Back OAC Title, Men’s Swimming and Diving Takes Fourth at OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) won his second straight Ohio Athletic Conference Championship in the 200-yard butterfly as the Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team finished in fourth place at the three-day OAC Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron 

BW, who set eight school records, had eight All-OAC performers and one OAC Champion, was fourth of six teams with 432.5 points.  John Carroll University won its eighth straight OAC title with 876.5 points.

Individuals

  • McQueary claimed his back-to-back title, earned his third career All-OAC honor and second of the championships in a school-record and NCAA B cut time of 1:50.25  
  • Junior All-OAC stroker Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) earned his second career All-OAC honor and second of the championships as he placed third in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of in a school-record time of 1:53.19
  • Junior All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) earned his fourth career All-OAC honor and second of the championships as he was the runner-up in the 3-meter dive with a career-best and NCAA B cut 484.30 points
  • Junior diver Ethan Morrison (Conneaut) earned his first career All-OAC honor as he finished third with a career-best 283.50 points
  • Junior Academic All-OAC freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) was ninth in the 100-yard freestyle as he broke a 12-year old school-record with a time of 46.88
  • Sophomore stroker Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) took 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 2:17.07
  • Senior freestyler Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) was 13th in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 17:39.57 

Relays

  • The 400-yard freestyle squad of McQueary, Kingsley, junior Luke Minick (Stow/Akron Archbishop Hoban) and Kooyman finished fifth in a time of 3:11.17
