Men’s Swimming and Diving Handles Fredonia (N.Y.)

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving teams won by a huge margin as it defeated Fredonia University in a non-conference meet by a final score of 227-28 in the Steele Hall Natatorium.

BW (3-0) won 10 of 11 individual events and both relays.  Fredonia (0-3) won one event.

Individuals

  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer Tommy McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) won the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:00.12 and the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:08.94
  • Junior All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) won the 1-meter with 238.10 points and the 3-meter with 215.95 points and
  • Junior freestyler Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.87 and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.74
  • Sophomore Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 12:05.11
  • Senior stroker Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:00.00, won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:06.35 and was second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.02
  • Senior Academic All-OAC stroker Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.88
  • Sophomore stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:24.98
  • Sophomore stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.92 and was second in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:05.19 and the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:17.66
  • Freshman stroker Branyan Rowland (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.79 and was second in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:32.07
  • Junior freestyler Will Bolin (Mansfield/Ontario) was second in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.04 and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 52.42
  • Junior freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) was second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.83
  • Junior stoker Jack Kielmeyer (Westerville/South) was second in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.44
  • Freshman stroker Own Rogonjic (Mentor) was second in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:21.90

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley relay team of McQueary, Kielmeyer, junior stroker Davis Pickett (Akron/Firestone) and senior stroker Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich./Marshall) won in a time of 1:47.93
  • The 200-yard freestyle squad of Mellett, Kingsley, McQueary and Kooyman won in a time of 1:340.41

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, November 3 when it travels to Canton for a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the C.T. Branin Natatorium at 6 p.m.
