Men’s Swimming and Diving Closes Out Regular Season, Falls to John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season portion of its schedule as it was defeated by crosstown rival John Carroll University in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet by a final score of 150-87 in the Johnson Natatorium inside the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.

BW (9-3, 2-3 OAC) had four individual winners.

Individual Results

  • Junior All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.), who is the OAC January Scholar Athlete of the Month, won the 1-meter dive and 3-meter with 279.20 and 2:55.70 points
  • Junior stroker Austin Kingsley (Northpoint, N.Y.) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:48.54 and was second in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:00.54
  • Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) won 200-yard butterfly the in a time of 1:56.55 and was second in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:28.02
  • Senior Academic All-OAC stroker Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 21.97 and was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 48.79
  • Sophomore freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:21.31 and was fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:11.43
  • Freshman stroker Branyan Rowland (Bucyrus/Colonel Crawford) was third in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:30.21

Relay Results

  • The 200-yard medley squad of Nolan Szuch, junior stroker Jack Kielmeyer (Westerville/South), senior stroker Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich./Marshall), and junior stroker Luke Minick (Stow/Archbishop Hoban) took fourth in a time of 1:46.34
  • The 400-yard freestyle unit of McQueary, Kingsley, junior stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas), and Kooyman finished third in a time of 3:20.27

BW is back in action on Wednesday, February 14 through Saturday, February 17 when it travels to Akron to compete in the OAC Championships hosted by Wilmington College in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.
