Men’s Swimming and Diving Sets Two More School Records on Day Two of OAC Championships, Remains in Fourth Place

AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team set two more records and remains in fourth place after second day of competition at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Wilmington College inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

BW, who has set five records in the first two days, is fourth of six teams with 285.5 points.  Defending champion John Carroll University is in first place with 612.5 points. 

Individuals

  • Junior All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) earned his second career All-OAC honor as he was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly in a school-record and NCAA B cut time of 48.92
  • Junior All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) earned his third career All-OAC honor as he was the runner-up in the 1-meter dive with an NCAA B cut 486.60 points
  • Junior freestyler Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) earned his first career All-OAC honor as he took third in the 200-yard freestyle on a school-record time of 1:42.96
  • Sophomore stroker Tyler Warner (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico Academy) took seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 1:00.67
  • Junior stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) was 11th in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:24.51
  • Sophomore stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) was 12th in the 100-yard backstroke in a career-best time of 54.19

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley squad of Kingsley, Warner, McQueary and senior Academic All-OAC stroker Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) finished fourth in a time of 1:35.18

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, February 17 when it competes on the final day of the OAC Championships. Preliminary action is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with finals to be contested at 5:30 p.m.
