Men’s Swimming and Diving Sweeps Tri-Meet with Heidelberg and Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team swept a non-conference tri-meet with Heidelberg University and Ohio Wesleyan University inside the Meek Center. 

BW (6-0) defeated Heidelberg (0-5) by a final score of 188-16 and Ohio Wesleyan (1-3) by a final score of 147-72.

Individuals

  • Senior Academic All-Ohio Conference freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.20 and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.74
  • Junior All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.35 and the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:25.84
  • Junior stroker Austin Kingsley (Northpoint, N.Y.) won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 54.76 and won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.44
  • Junior All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) won the 3-meter dive with 183.55 points
  • Sophomore freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:20.28
  • Junior diver Ethan Morrison (Conneaut) won the 1-meter dive with 241.95 points
  • Junior freestyler Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area) won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:11.63 and was second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:50.72
  • Junior freestyler Erik Tagg (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) was second in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:28.81

Relays

  • The 200-yard medley relay squad of Kingsley, junior stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas), McQueary and Kooyman won in a time of 1:40.88
  • The 200-yard freestyle relay unit of Mellett, junior stroker Luke Minick (Stow/Akron Archbishop Hoban), senior stroker Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich./Marshall) and junior freestyle Will Bolin (Mansfield/Ontario) took second in a time of 1:32.69

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, November 11 when they travel to Alliance for an OAC dual meet against the University of Mount Union in the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
