ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell to the University of Mount Union by a final score of 150-91 in the Hammond Natatorium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
BW (6-1, 1-1 OAC) won four individual events. Mount Union (5-1, 1-1 OAC) won seven individual events and both relays.
Individuals
- Junior All-OAC diver Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich.) won the 1-meter diving event with 168.15 points and the 3-meter dive with 248.25 points.
- Senior Academic All-Ohio Conference freestyler Mason Kooyman (Concord Township/Chardon) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.20 and was second in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 48.92
- Junior All-OAC stroker Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Park) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 51.70 and was second in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:01.30
- Junior diver Ethan Morrison (Conneaut) took second in the 1-meter diving with 111.90 points and second in the 3-meter dive with 163.30 points.
- Junior stroker Austin Kingsley (Northpoint, N.Y.) was second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:01.62 and was third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:51.03
- Junior stroker Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas) took third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.28 and third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:06.45
- Junior Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:09.98
Relays
- The 200-yard medley relay squad of Kingsley, Tafoya, McQueary and Kooyman took second in a time of 1:39.90
- The 400-yard freestyle relay unit of junior freestyler Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Moon Area, sophomore freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor), senior stroker Grant Doolittle (Tekonsha, Mich./Marshall) and junior freestyle Will Bolin (Mansfield/Ontario) finished third in a time of 3:31.14
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 17,18 and 19 when they travel to Fredonia, New York to co-host the Blue Devil Invitational with Fredonia University in the Steele Hall Natatorium.
