OBERLIN, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team finished third at the three-day Oberlin College Invitational in the Carr Pool inside the Philips Physical Education Center.

BW was third of 9 teams with 1039.5 points. Alfred State College was the champion with 1,235.5 points. 

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:

• Freshman Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) placed fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 52.29 and seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:01.07 and placed sixth in the 200-yard butterfly.
• Junior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:46.37 and finished 11th in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.26.
• Freshman Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) placed ninth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.79 and finished fifth in the 200-yard backstroke. 
• Freshman Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) placed six in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:53.34.
• Freshman Tyson Swihart (Sarasota, Fla. / Sarasota Military Academy) took fifth in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 4:29.71.
• Sophomore Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) finished ninth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.33.
• Freshman Ethan McKinney (Indianapolis, Ind. / Herron) placed ninth in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:54.32 and finished 13th in the 1650-yard freestyle in 19:15.99
• Freshman Davis Pickett (Akron/Firestone) placed 13th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:24.98.

BW relays were highlighted by:

• The 400-yard medley relay of Tafoya, McQueary, freshmen Yaroslav Hapyuk (North Royalton) and Olsavsky placed fifth in a time of 3:38.53.
• The 200-yard medley relay of Swihart, McQueary, Hapyuk, and Kooyman placed fourth in 1:37.59.
• The 800-yard freestyle squad of freshmen Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) Kingley, McQueary, and Olsavsky placed fifth in 7:12.99.
• The 200-yard freestyle squad of freshmen Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario), McQueary, Hapyuk and Kooyman placed fourth in a time of 1:27.97.
• The 400-yard freestyle Mellett, Kingsley, freshmen Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario) and Olsavsky place fourth in a time of 3:16.08 

The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, December 4th as it hosts Bethany College and Hiram College for a non-conference meet at BW Natatorium inside Lou Higgins Rec Center.
