BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team win their non-conference dual meet against Bethany College and Hiram College in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW (7-1) won 10 of the 11 events, had 7 runner-up finishers as it defeated Bethany by a final score of 178-18 and beat Hiram by a final score of 166-45.
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
- Junior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:06.98.
- Freshmen Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario) won the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:41.64
- Freshman Davis Pickett (Akron / Firestone) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 5:22.69.
- Freshman Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:07.21.
- Freshman Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.48 seconds.
- Freshmen Aidan Hicks (Oneida) won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.45.
- Freshman Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:53.26 and 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.20
- Freshman Gannon Mellett (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Moon Area) won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.32 seconds.
BW relays were highlighted by:
- The 400-yard medley relay of McQueary, Freshman Tyson Swihart (Sarasota, Fla. / Sarasota Military Academy), Kingsley and freshman Martin Koenen (Chardon) won in a time of 3:52.86.
- The 200-yard freestyle squad of Mellett, Bolin, freshmen Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban), Kingsley, and sophomore Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) won in a time of 1:31.34.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Sarasota, Florida on their annual winter break trip as they face Randolph-Macon (Va.) at the Arlington Park Aquatic Complex.
