UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team drops a conference match up against John Carroll University in the Johnson Natatorium inside Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
BW (7-2) won two events, had 14 runner-up finishers as it falls to John Carroll by a final score of 219-74.
The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included:
- Freshmen Jason Heisler (Saline, Mich. / Saline) won 1-meter and 3-meter dive with a score of 242.93 in 3-meter and 281.62 in the 1-meter dive.
- Freshman Erik Tagg (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Chartiers Valley) placed fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:13.77
- Junior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:49.47 and third in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 49.89 seconds.
- Junior Alec McNeill (Avon Lake) finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:30.46.
- Freshmen Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) placed third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.33 seconds and third in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:04.25.
- Freshman Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) finished second the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:59.61.
- Freshman Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) placed second in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:06.41 and placed third in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 55.13 and second in the 100-yard individual medley a time of 56.78 seconds.
- Sophomore Mason Kooyman (Concord Township / Chardon) placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 22.71 seconds.
BW relays were highlighted by:
- The 200-yard medley relay of freshman Aidan Hicks (Oneida), McQueary, freshmen Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban) and Kooyman placed third in a time of 1:58.50.
- The 200-yard freestyle squad of Kooyman, freshmen Luke Minick (Stow / Archbishop Hoban), freshmen Gavin Skwirut (Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe) and freshmen Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario) placed third in a time of 1:32.34.
BW closes out the home portion of its schedule on Friday, January 28 when it hosts Ohio Northern University on Seniors' Day in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 6 p.m.
