Men's Swimming & Diving Beats Hiram on Final Day of BW Fall Duals

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team defeated Hiram College on day two of the BW Fall Duals in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (3-0) won seven of the eight events, had seven runner-up finishers as it defeated Hiram by a final score of 122-26.

The Yellow Jackets individual highlights included: 

  • Junior Austin Olsavsky (Medina) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:50.22 and 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:14.43.
  • Freshman Tyson Swihart (Sarasota, Fla. / Sarasota Military Academy) won the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:44.41.
  • Freshmen Jason Tafoya (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:07.65.
  • Freshman Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) won the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:50.22.
  • Freshman Tommie McQueary (Batavia/Bethel Tate) won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.60.
  • Freshmen Yaroslav Hapyuk (North Royalton) took second in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.53.

BW relays were highlighted by:

  • The 400-yard medley team of Tafoya, McQueary, Swihart and freshmen Austin Kingsley (Northport, N.Y.) as they touched the wall first in a time of 3:51.37
  • The 400-yard freestyle squad of freshman Olsavsky, freshmen David Pickett (Akron / Firestone), Kingsley and freshmen Will Bolin (Mansfield / Ontario) won time of 3:29.80.

The Yellow Jackets return to the pool on Saturday, October 30 has it travels to Delaware for an non-conferene meet against Ohio Wesleyan University in the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center.
