MARIETTA, Ohio – An early deficit proved detrimental in the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team's game against the No.-13 nationally ranked Marietta Pioneers, resulting in an 87-68 loss inside the Ban Johnson Arena.

Three BW (4-3, 1-2 OAC) Yellow Jackets scored in double figures as junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick) led the way with 18, shooting 50% from the field. Senior guard Kyle Nader (Vermilion) tallied 13 off 6-7 shooting and junior forward Tyler Colombo (Strasburg/ Tuscarawas Central Catholic) recorded 11.

The Pioneers established a lead early but BW would tie the game at nine off an old fashioned three-point play from junior Academic All-OAC forward Jack Lostoski (Uniontown/Lake). Marietta answered with a 16-7 run that gave them a nine point lead with nine minutes left in the half. The Yellow Jackets were able to cut the lead to nine once more in the half at 1:45, but Marietta would take a commanding lead of 44-33 into intermission.

Marietta scored the first two baskets of the next half and BW would answer with two three-pointers from Colombo and a layup from Quiring to trim the lead to seven with 16:17 left in regulation. BW was able to go on small spurts but wasn't able to get the necessary stops to threaten. Marietta would maintain their lead and close out the game at an 87-68 final.

The Yellow Jackets shot 25-62 (40%) from the field and 6-26 (23%) from deep. Free throws hindered BW's chance to comeback as they shot 12-24 (50%) from the charity line. The two tied at 35 rebounds and Marietta's bench outscored BW, 48-24.

BW will hit the court next on Saturday December, 15 when they host OAC foe Capital University at 3 p.m.
