ROCHESTER, New York – In the championship game of the Chuck Resler Invitational, the Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to host, University of Rochester (N.Y), 64-55 inside the Louis Alexander Palestra.

BW (2-1) was led by two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC guard Jay Battle (Gahanna/Lincoln) who scored a game high 21 points off 7-14 shooting, while also tallying four rebounds and one assist. Junior forward Drew Sova (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) shot 75% from the field for 12 points while collecting a game high 8 rebounds. Battle and Sova both earned All-Tournament for their performance over the weekend.

The game started with both squads trading buckets. Once the game was tied at 10, Rochester surged out to an eleven point lead with 7:36 remaining in the half. The Yellow Jackets battled back decreasing the lead to two points a couple of times, thanks to three pointers from the BW backcourt members of Battle and Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Michael Quiring (Brunswick). With seconds remaining, Battle sank another three that brought the game to 27-28 right before the half.

BW quickly claimed the lead in the second half with a layup from Quiring at the 19:53 mark, and then grabbed their largest lead of the game at 18:42 with a layup from Sova. The two teams battled for control of the game in the next six minutes as they traded the lead five times within that timeframe. With the game tied at 47, Rochester would go on a 15-5 run over the next six minutes to close out BW, with a 64-55 final.

BW recorded 12 assists, 1 block, 31 rebounds, 10 steals, and 9 points off turnovers in the loss to Rochester.

The Yellow Jackets hit the court next on November 20, when they play their first home game of the season against the visiting Thomas (Ky.) More Saints at 7 p.m.
