Baseball Falls to Wheaton (Ill.) at Snowbird Classic

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team was defeated by Wheaton (Ill.) College by a score of 5-4 inside North Charlotte Regional Park at the Snowbird Classic.

BW (8-1) scored one run in the third inning, three runs in the sixth and had the tying run on first base with no outs in the ninth. Wheaton (3-3) scored one run in the third and fourth innings, two in the seventh and scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth.

At the plate the Yellow Jackets were led by senior right fielder Alex Marcum (Granville) as he had two of BW's four hits and two runs batted in (RBI).

On the mound, sophomore starting pitcher Danny Cody (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) pitched six innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out five Thunder batters. Sophomore pitcher Dominic Francis (Medina/Brunswick) was credited with the loss.

BW is back in action on Tuesday, March 7 when it faces NCAA Division I Central Michigan University in a non-conference game at the Snowbird Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
