No. 24 Baseball Drops Non-Conference Game Against NCAA Division I Central Michigan

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The No. 24-nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University baseball team was defeated by NCAA Division I Central Michigan University by a score of 15-5 inside North Charlotte Regional Park at the Snowbird Classic.

BW (8-2) scored three runs in the third and one run in the fourth and eighth innings. Central Michigan (4-7) scored two runs in the first inning, one in the third, two in the fourth, four in the fifth, one in the sixth, four in the seventh and one in the eighth.

Offensively the Yellow Jackets were led by junior catcher Trent Kaltenbach (Plain City/Johnathan Alder) and freshman second baseman Jacob Bonner (Akron/Bishop Hoban) as they each tallied multiple hits. Kaltenbach went two-for-four and Bonner went two-for-three with one run batted in (RBI). In addition senior All-OAC centerfielder Cole Nieto (Brunswick/St. Ignatius) went one-for-four with a three RBI double.

On the mound, freshman pitcher Ian Hennessey (Strongsville) pitched 3.1 innings and was credited with the loss. Freshman Spencer Aukerman (Medina), sophomore Jack Raines (Uniontwon/Akron Archbishop Hoban), freshman Max Adams (Massillon/Washington) and freshman Mitch Kern (Parma/Normandy) came out of the pen in relief for BW.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, March 9 when they face Moravian (Pa.) College in a non-conference game inside North Charlotte Regional Park at the Snowbird Classic. First pitch is at 10:30 a.m.
