Baseball Drops Non-Conference Contest Versus Adrian (Mich.)

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team was defeated by Adrian (Mich.) College by a score of 7-2 in a non-conference game on Fisher Field.

BW (13-9) scored two runs on four hits and both of its runs came off a two-run homer by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference centerfielder Cole Nieto (Brunswick/St. Ignatius) in the third. Adrian (13-6) scored one run in the first, four in the second and two in the third.

At the plate, the Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore left fielder Reese Albright (North Royalton) as he went two-for-five. Nieto and junior outfielder Chase Knodle (Poland/Seminary) recorded the other two hits for BW. Nieto went one-for-five with two runs batted in in (RBI) and Knodle went one-for-one with a double.

On the mound, freshman Ian Hennessey (Strongsville) was handed the loss as he pitched one and one third innings, surrendered five hits and allowed five runs. Sophomore Jack Raines (Uniontown/Archbishop Hoban) made his second straight appearance and got the final two outs in the second inning for BW. Freshman Michael Hubert (Cincinnati/Oak Hills) pitched the next six innings and struck out four batters, allowed four hits and two runs. Freshman Spencer Berg (New Albany) would came in for the ninth and put the side down in order with one strikeout.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 8 when they host defending OAC Champion Marietta College on Fisher Field. Game one starts at 1 p.m. and game two is slated for 4 p.m. Fan's can follow the action at http://www.bwyellowjackets.com/x/i9bwz
