Bortz ’23 Named Athletics Equipment Manager

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University Director of Athletics Steve Thompson has announced the hiring of Andrew Bortz '23 as the athletics equipment manager.

"We are welcome Andrew back to the BW Athletics Department and his alma mater," stated Thompson.  "He has seen first-hand what it takes and the importance the equipment manager provides to the success of all of our 28 varsity programs.  We are happy to have him back in Berea and excited to see what he can do with all our teams and student-athletes."

Bortz returns to BW after serving as an Assistant Equipment Manager at the University of Akron this summer.  While with the Zips, he was responsible for inventorying and sanitizing all equipment, doing laundry, and setting and tearing down for spring football practices.

"I am thrilled for this opportunity to return to BW and to be involved with the Athletic Department," said Bortz.  "I can't wait to work with all of our coaches, student-athletes and teams."

Bortz earned a Bachelor of Arts in sports management last May.   During his time at BW, Bortz was a three-year letterwinner at wide receiver.  He appeared in 17 games and caught 12 passes for 105 yards.  When not on the football field, Bortz was an equipment student-assistant for two years.

He is a member of the Athletic Equipment Managers Association.
