BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University Department of Athletics, the Department of Sport Management and Hospitality and the Carmel School of Business welcomed women's basketball icons Cynthia Cooper and Cheryl Miller to campus as one event to tipoff the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Final Four in Cleveland.
A group of more than 150 BW faculty, staff, student-athletes, and community members took part in the once in a lifetime event.
The night kicked off with a viewing of the documentary The Women of Troy, which was directed and produced by journalist and former Cleveland Plain Dealer sportswriter Branson Wright.
The documentary which was based on the University of Southern California (USC) women's basketball team, its success in the early 1980s and the path the legendary women of that team paved for women's basketball and women's sports today.
After the viewing, Cooper and Miller shared stories about their path to USC, collegiate playing careers and life after playing careers ended as well as providing insight about the state of collegiate athletics today for both men and women.
The two legends closed out the night by taking pictures will all in attendance. Cooper and Miller did not leave the room until everyone that wanted a picture got one.
