BW Advances to OAC Semifinals with 1-0 Win Against Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio -- The fourth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated fifth-seeded University of Mount Union, 1-0, Tuesday evening on Tressel Field inside The George Finnie Stadium.
With its win, BW (10-8-3) will travel to Westerville for an OAC semifinal clash against top-seeded Otterbein University on Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m. .

The Yellow Jackets and Purple Raiders (12-7) played a tough defensive first half as neither team were able to find the back of the net. BW attempted eight shots to Mount Union's five, including five on goal to Mount's one.

In the second half, freshman midfielder Courtney Schutz (Mentor) scored the lone goal of the game and her fifth of the season off the assist from junior midfielder Alex Elliott (Blacklick/IMG Academy) at the 54:45 mark.

Overall, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Purple Raiders, 16-6, including 12 shots on-goal, and took seven corner kicks.

Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Emily Tallmadge (Fairview, Pa.) earned her 10th victory this season and posted her seventh shutout this season and the 21st of her career.  She had two saves.

With a win at Otterbein on Thursday, BW would advance to the OAC Championship Game on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 2 p.m.
