Five Women's Basketball Student-Athletes Named Academic All-OAC

BEREA, Ohio -- Five member of the Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team have been named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

Seniors Erin Allen (Girard, Pa.) and Allyson Helleis (Rocky River), juniors Syndey Clark (Parma/Lake Ridge Academy) and Mackenzie Colombo (Strasburg) and sophomore Katie Smith (Fairview Park/Fairview) are five of the 17 BW winter sports student-athletes named as Academic All-OAC.

In order to be selected as Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cummulative grade point average,be in residence at the school for at least a year and maintain varsity status.

Allen, a four-year letterwinner, earns her third Academic All-OAC honor.  She is an athletic training major.

Helleis, a four-year letterwinner on the women's basketball team, earns her third Academic All-OAC honor.  She is a pre-physical therapy major.

Clark, a three-year letterwinner, earns her second Academic All-OAC honor.  She is a public relations major.  Clark also was named a second-team All-OAC selection for the second straight season.

Colombo, a three-year letterwinner, earns her second Academic All-OAC honor.  She is a communications disorders major. Colombo also was earned her first All-OAC selection when she was tabbed to the second-team.

Smith, a two-year letterwinner on the women's basketball team, earns her first Academic All-OAC honor.  She is a pre-physical therapy major.  Smith had the highest GPA of any female winter sports student-athlete.
