Smolik Named CAPITAL ONE Academic All-District 7

BEREA, Ohio -- Baldwin Wallace University senior women's basketball student-athlete Audrey Smolik (Strongsville) has been selected to the 2014-2015 CAPITAL ONE Division III Academic All-District 7 first-team and now qualifies for the national CAPITAL ONE Division III Academic All-America ballot.

Smolik, an education major with a 3.88 grade point average, is a four-year varsity contributor and three-year starter. This season, she has led the Yellow Jackets to a 16-4 overall record and into a three-way tie for first place in the rugged Ohio Athletic Conference with an 11-2 slate. Smolik tops the team in scoring and rebounding at 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds-per-game. She has 26 assists, 15 three-pointers, 12 steals and three blocked shots.

For her career, Smolik has led BW to an impressive 71-30 record with a .703 winning percentage. A year ago, she helped BW compile a 22-7 slate, capture an OAC regular season co-title and advance to the "Sweet 16" of the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Smolik enters this Saturday's home game versus Otterbein University with 947 career points, 414 rebounds, 85 assists, 75 three-pointers, 52 steals and four blocks.

Smolik is a two-time All-OAC and two-time Academic All-OAC selection. The 2014 OAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month (January) also is a three-time OAC Player of the Week and was the Most Valuable Player at the 2013 BW Invitational and made the All-Tournament team at this year's event. She is a Dean's List student, a Jacket Scholar and a member of both Alpha Lambda, Chi Sigma Alpha and Dayton C. Miller academic honor societies.

In addition to serving as a basketball team captain, Smolik has volunteered at Camp Cheerful, where she helped disadvantaged youth, and is a member of both the Athletes in Action and Teaching Together.
