Three BW Women’s Basketball Players Garner All-OAC Honors

BEREA, Ohio – Three Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball standouts, senior forward Audrey Smolik (Strongsville), sophomore guard Sydney Clark (Parma/ Lake Ridge Academy) and sophomore forward Clara Lemmon (Canton/Louisville), have been named to the 2015 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team. 

Smolik was a first-team seletcion, Clark was tabbed to the second-team and Lemmon was an honorable mention pick.

The trio each played a key role for the OAC Tournament champion Yellow Jackets (22-6) who earned the OAC's automatic berth and play regional host Calvin (Mich.) College (27-0) in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Division III National Tournament this Friday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. The regional championship game will be played on Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m.

The Yellow Jackets are led by Smolik who who was the Most Valuable Player of the OAC Tournament after scoring 50 points and grabbing 18 rebounds in three games. She averages a team-high 12.7 points and 6.6 rebounds-per-game. Smolik is currently 10th all-time in school history with 1,065 points. In addition to being the OAC MVP, she was an all-tournament team pick at the BW Invitational in November and at the OAC Tournament and was an OAC Player of the Week. Smolik, who scored a career-high 26 points in an 85-64 win versus Heidelberg University in the first round of the OAC Tournament, also has 33 assists, 23 three-pointers, 17 steals and four blocked shots. She also enters the NCAA tournament game at Calvin with 464 career rebounds, 92 assists, 83 three-pointers and 57 steals. A stellar student in the classroom, Smolik also carries a 3.88 grade point average.

Clark joined Smolik in the starting lineup and was on the OAC all-tournament team after scoring 33 points, grabbing 19 rebounds and blocking seven shots in the three-game sweep. She averages 8.9 ppg. and 4.5 rpg. and tops the team with 26 blocked shots. Clark had a career-high 16 points in a February 11 game versus John Carroll University and has 29 steals, 27 assists, 27 three-pointers and 26 blocked shots.  Also a strong student, Clark has a 3.6 grade average.

Lemmon emerged as a key player on the inside for the Jackets and is third in scoring at 7.8 ppg., second with 6.4 rpg. and 16 blocked shots. She averages 24 minutes of playing time per game, second most to Smolik, and has 23 steals and 21 assists. Lemmon had a career-high 25 points in a 70-68 win versus Otterbein University on February 7 and a career-high 13 rebounds in a 47-39 win at Capital University on January 10.
