Three Career Nights Lead BW Women's Basketball to Victory against Muskingum

BEREA, Ohio – Three Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball players recorded career nights as the Yellow Jackets defeated Muskingum University, 68-42, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (5-2, 2-1 OAC), who has now won 10 straight and 11 of the last 12 meetings versus the Muskies, was led by sophomore guard Sydney Clark (Parma/Lake Ridge Academy) as she scored a career-high 14 points.  Junior guard Erin Allen (Girard, Pa.), who made her first career start, recorded a career-high 11 points and grabbed a career-best six rebounds. Sophomore forward Clara Lemmon (Louisville) tallied a career-best 10 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.  

Muskingum (3-5, 1-2 OAC) was led by junior guard Angela Darnley and sophomore forward Jasmine Goings each with 13 points.

In the first half, BW opened the game on a 6-2 run when Lemmon scored on a layup at the 16:49 mark.  The Muskies responded with an 8-1 run to take the 10-7 lead on a pair of free throws by Darnley at 14:33.   The Yellow Jackets answered back with a 14-0 run to take a 21-10 lead on a layup by freshman Megan Schubert (Ayersville) at the 10:04.   Clark accounted for eight points and sophomore guard Mackenzie Colombo (Strasburg) added four during the run. Muskingum responded with 5-0 run and outscored BW 13-9 down the stretch to trail 30-23 at the intermission.

The Yellow Jackets opened the second half and put the game away as they used a 17-2 run to push the lead to 47-25 on a three-pointer by junior guard Allyson Helleis (Rocky River) at 11:21.  BW did not look back as it pushed the lead to as many as 30 points at 64-34 on a jumper by freshman guard Katie Smith (Fairview Park/Fairview) at the 5:36 mark.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, December 17 when they travel to Marietta for an OAC game against Marietta College in the Ban Johnson Arena at 7 p.m.  Fans can watch all of the action live at http://tinyurl.com/bwmarwbb.
