BEREA, Ohio - Get to know junior defender Garrett McCue (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais Community). This season, McCue has appeared in 12 games, making 10 starts on the Yellow Jacket back line. 

How did you get started in your soccer career?

My brother was the one to introduce me to soccer. I remember always going to his club games and high school games to watch him play. As soon as I could walk, he began playing soccer with me, usually making me play goalie as he tried to hit me. 

If you could have dinner with one professional athlete (living or dead), who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with any professional athlete, I would like to have dinner with Kyrie Irving. I choose so I can ask him about why he left the Cavs, because his decision still doesn't make any sense to me. 

Why did you pick your major?

I have always been interested in the sciences as well as the medical field. When coming to BW, I looked into the Neuroscience program and found it very fascinating. I thoroughly enjoy learning about the body, especially its cognitive functions, as well as nervous system and how it all plays a role in a properly working body. 

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?

The best piece of advice I have ever received is that if you are not giving the task at hand 100 percent of your effort then you are wasting your time. This really hit home to me because it is applicable on all fronts of life and I try to implement this in as much as I do. 

If you played another sport, what would it be and why?

If I played any other sport, it would have to be hockey. I watch more hockey than any other sport and I wish I gave it a try growing up. The sport is so fast and entertaining, it makes me want to get on the ice and give it a whirl despite not being able to skate very well.
