BEREA, Ohio - Get to know senior goalkeeper Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/Turpin). This season, Asbury has appeared in six games, making five starts, and has recorded 17 saves in 423:11 minutes in the net for a 1.91 goals against average.

How did you get started in your soccer career?

I started soccer when I was four years old. I wasn't always a goalie, however. I started off playing in the field and, when I tried out for a select team in 5th grade, there was a large group of kids that were shooting at a kick wall, and no one was defending against them. So I stood up and stood in front of the kids and they started shooting at me and, when the coaches came over, they asked me if I wanted to play goalkeeper. The rest is history.

If you could have dinner with one professional athlete (living or dead), who would it be and why?

Tim Howard or Manuel Neuer. The reason it would be either one of those guys is because they are both very solid goalkeepers and I would just want to talk to them and hear their perspective and their mind set before a match, before training, etc. Really, I would just like to know what goes on inside the mind of a professional goalkeeper.

What is your favorite food?

Cheeseburgers. 100 percent without a doubt. 95 percent of the time, that is what I order at a restaurant or that is something I eat when I get a cheat meal or something like that. Milkshakes typically accompany said cheeseburger.

What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?

"When doing something you love, never doubt yourself." It was from a coach of mine over this past summer. I asked him if he had any advice for me going into my senior year, and that's what he said. This has really stuck with me so far and has made me look at the way I think about playing and it has changed the way I play for the better.

If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?

Super speed. Because I love efficiency. I love the little everyday things that make my life easier or massive inventions that have changed the way everyday life happens. Also, because I recently watched the Flash TV series and one benefit of his super power is that he can read an entire book in under a minute and, being a slow reader, that would be pretty nice.
