Ruple Earns First Career OAC Player of the Week Honor

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Danny Ruple (Berea/Berea-Midpark) has been selected as the OAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

Ruple led the Yellow Jackets to a 2-1 week with victories over the College of Wooster and Bluffton University. He was responsible for four goals and three assists on 20 shots, totaling 11 points for the week.

The sophomore started out his week with an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Allegheny (Pa.) College in the team's home opener. Two days later, Ruple netted the golden goal in the 100th minute and also recorded an assist in the Yellow Jackets come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Wooster. He capped off the week with his first career hat trick with all three of his goals coming in the first 15 minutes of the game against Bluffton.

On the season, Ruple has played in and started all seven games, leading the conference in points scored with 15 and shots taken with 27. He is tied for first in assists with five and second in goals with five as well.

In his career, Ruple has appeared in 26 games and recorded 13 goals, 11 assists, 37 points and five game-winning goals.

BW is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 20, when it travels to Oberlin to take on non-conference opponent Oberlin College at 7 p.m. on Shults Field. The Yellow Jackets will return home this weekend for a men's and women's doubleheader against Defiance College with the men's game starting at 7 p.m.
