Men's Soccer Drops Opening Game of 28th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic

DANVILLE, Ky. – In the opening game of the 28th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic, the Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team could not find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to Centre (Ky.) College.

While the Yellow Jackets (0-3) had a season-high total in shots taken with 11, Centre (3-1) took seven more shots for a total of 18. Solid on-the-ball pressure and quality movement, however, prevented the Colonels from putting more of those 18 shots on goal.

Senior forward Brad Nordin opened up the scoring with a goal off an assist from sophomore forward Nick Mazzarella in the 36th minute. Freshman forward Royce Pope also joined in the scoring with a 69th minute goal off an Ian Williams assist.

Sophomore midfielder Rafael Davalos (Kettering/Alter) led the Yellow Jackets with three shots while fellow sophomore midfielder Timmy Jonas (Fairview Park/St. Edward) added two more shots. Senior goalkeeper Ryan Asbury (Cincinnati/Turpin) made two saves in four shots on goal.

BW will take on Spalding (Ky.) University in the second game of the 28th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic on Saturday, September 9, at 5 p.m.
