No. 16 Women's Cross Country Opens 2019 Season at Unscored Wooster Invitational

WOOSTER, Ohio – The No.16 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country opened the 2019 season at the unscored annual College of Wooster Invitational, on the L.C. Boles Memorial Golf Course.

In the 4K event, sophomore Sophi Perez (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) was the top BW finisher as she placed 10th with a career-best time of 15:46.7. Freshman Maddie Miller (Medina), making her collegiate running debut, finished in 13th place with a final time of 15:50.6. Junior Lizzy Gilreath (Mentor) ran for 18th place, also achieving a career-best time of 16:03.5. Freshman Maddie Roschival (Medina/Buckeye) and senior Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon) rounded out the top five runners for the Yellow Jackets as they crossed the finish line together, tied for 27th place in 16:35.2. Roschival made her collegiate debut while Fowler also ran for a career-best time.

BW will return to the race course on Saturday, September 7, to compete in the Tommy Evans Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron at the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails in Norton, Ohio, where the Yellow Jackets will compete against many local Division I teams.
