No. 16 Women's Cross Country Places Sixth at Tommy Evans Invitational

NORTON, Ohio – The No. 16 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team competed in the 51st Tommy Evans Invitational, hosted by the University of Akron on the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails.

In a 5k event that was composed entirely of Division I and II schools, with the exception of one community college, BW ended up placing sixth out of 10 teams, scoring 119 points. The host team Akron won the team title with 45 points.

Senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) was the top runner for the Yellow Jackets as she impressively placed sixth, with a career-best time of 18:16.9. Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) was the next runner to cross the finish line for BW as she placed 15th, also with a career-best time of 18:51.3. Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) was the third-highest finisher for the Yellow Jackets, completing the race in 19:13.7 and placing 24th. Rounding out the top five runners for BW were juniors Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial), who placed 34th with a career-best time of 19:31.1, and Molina Otte (Omaha, Neb./Millard West), who finished 42nd in 19:42.8.

The Yellow Jackets will return to the racecourse on Saturday, September 28 when they travel to Cedarville to compete in the All-Ohio Championships on the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course, hosted by Cedarville University.
