No. 19 Women's Cross Country Uses Five Career-Bests to Secure Fifth Place at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio – The No. 19 nationally-ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team competed in the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College on the Oberlin College Cross Country Course. It was a historic day for BW's top runners as it saw it's top five finishers earn career-bests times.

In a six-kilometer event that was composed entirely of NCAA Division III schools, BW managed to place fifth out of 32 teams, scoring 177 points. The host team Oberlin took won the team title with 104 points.

For the third time this season, senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit) was the top runner for the Yellow Jackets as she impressively placed third, in a career-best 21:23.6. Sophomore Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain) was the next runner to cross the finish line for BW as she placed 17th, in a career-best 22:03.4. Juniors Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover) and Hastings Marek (Pataskala/Watkins Memorial) finished one after the other in 30th and 31st place, respectively. Kile completed the race in a career-best 22.25.1 and Marek followed with a career-best of her own in 22:28.3. Rounding out the top five runners for the Yellow Jackets was junior Molina Otte (Omaha, Neb./Milliard West) who finished in 98th place in a career-best 23:20.3.

The Yellow Jackets will return to the racecourse on Saturday, November 2 when they travel to nearby Gates Mills to compete Ohio Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by crosstown rival John Carroll University.
