Women's Cross Country Jumps to No. 17 in USTFCCCA National Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country team lands at the No. 17 spot in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) week eight NCAA Division III women's cross country national rankings.

In a poll that saw BW jump six spots from last rankings' No. 23 placement, the Yellow Jackets were tied for second in week eight's highest climbers. BW receives its highest national ranking since the USTFCCCA's 2019 preseason poll that deemed the Yellow Jackets 16th in all of NCAA Division III. BW also prolonged its program-record of 10 consecutive weeks of having appeared in the national rankings.

The Yellow Jackets' upward national recognition can be credited to its performance in last weekend's Great Lakes Regional Championship Meet, as BW raced to a second-place finish out of 37 competing teams. The Yellow Jackets were consequently one of two teams within the Great Lakes Region to receive automatic bids to the NCAA Division III National Championships. It also marked the second consecutive season that the Yellow Jackets earned an automatic bid, as they won regionals outright in 2018.

BW returns to the racecourse and concludes its 2019 campaign on Saturday, November 23, as it travels to Louisville, Kentucky's Tom Sawyer State Park to compete in the NCAA Championships at 11:45 a.m., hosted by Spalding (Ky.) University.
