Nine Women's Cross Country Student-Athletes Garner Academic All-OAC Honors

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio Nine Baldwin Wallace University women's cross country student-athletes have landed on the 2019 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.

In order to be selected to the Academic All-OAC team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or higher in class standing, appeared in at least one varsity contest, and maintains a 3.5 minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA).

Seniors Kelly Brennan (Akron/Walsh Jesuit), Jordan Dascani (Toledo/Springfield), Katie Fowler (Mount Vernon), Claire Makowski (Bethel Park, Pa.), and Megan Vaughn (Amherst/Firelands), junior Madison Kile (North Canton/Hoover), and sophomores Jenna Daulbaugh (Minerva), Alyssa Laughner (Howard, Pa./Central Mountain), and Lexi Smith (North Canton/Jackson) are nine of 57 Yellow Jacket student-athletes to be recognized this fall.

Brennan, who earns her third Academic All-OAC honor, is an accounting and finance double major who carries a 3.974 GPA. She is a Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Alpha Lambda and Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Societies. Athletically, the three-year letterwinner has earned four career All-Ohio, All-OAC and All-Great Lakes Region honors. She has also garnered career-best times of 16:40.0 in the 4k (2016), 18:16.9 in the 5k (2019), and 21:23.6 in the 6k (2019).

Dascani, who earns her third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.691 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. In 2019, the letterwinner had also claimed career-best times of 17:54.7 in the 4k, 21:13.7 in the 5k and 25:06.8 in the 6k.

Fowler, who earns her third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an communication sciences and disorders major who carries a 3.92 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. Athletically, the three-year letterwinner earned an All-Ohio honor in 2018. Fowler has also garnered career-best times of 16:35.2 in the 4k, 20:54.0 in the 5k, and 24:46.9 in the 6k, in 2019.

Makowski, who earns her third consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an music education major who carries a 3.889 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. The three-year letterwinner has also claimed career-best times of 18:13.9 in the 4k (2016), 20:51.9 in the 5k (2018), and 24:20.6 in the 6k (2016).

Vaughn, who earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is a marketing major who carries a 3.777 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. Athletically, the two-year letterwinner earned an All-Ohio honor in 2018. Vaughn has also garnered career-best times of 16:22.8 in the 4k, 21:10.0 in the 5k, and 24:35.4 in the 6k, in 2017.

Kile, who earns her second consecutive Academic All-OAC honor, is an engineering major who carries a 3.953 GPA. She is a Dean's List student and Jacket Scholar. Athletically, the two-year letterwinner has earned three career All-Ohio and All-Great Lakes Region honors, and two career All-OAC honors. Kile has also garnered career-best times of 15:37.1 in the 4k (2017), 18:51.3 in the 5k (2019), and 22:25.1 in the 6k (2019).

Daulbaugh, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a pre-physical therapy major who carries a 3.609 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. In 2018, Daulbaugh had also claimed career-best times of 18:16.7 in the 4k, 21:09.8 in the 5k, and 25:27.0 in the 6k.

Laughner, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a neuroscience biology major who carries a 3.727 GPA. She is a Dean's List student. Athletically, the letterwinner has earned two career All-Great Lakes Region honors, and one career All-Ohio and All-OAC honor. Laughner has also garnered career-best times of 19:13.7 in the 5k, and 22:03.4 in the 6k, in 2019.

Smith, who earns her first Academic All-OAC honor, is a music education major who carries a 3.87 GPA. In 2019, Smith had also claimed career-best times of 17:34.0 in the 4k, 21:22.1 in the 5k, and 25:45.2 in the 6k.
