Yellow Jacket Track and Field Teams Compete at Gator Invitational

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the 2009 Gator Invite host by Allegheny (Pa.) College in Meadville, Pennsylvania.

On the women's side, sophomore Rachel Marinucci (Brunswick) placed first in the hammer throw with a season-best toss of 134'5" and second in the shot put at 39'3". Freshman Kara Kasper (Amherst/ Steele) finished second in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 33'2". Sophomore Erin Norton (Lakewood/ Senior) placed fourth in the hammer at 129'8", senior Sam Via (Brookville) was fifth at 124'4" and senior Theresa Carona (Canton/ Massillon Perry) was sixth at 123'2".

Senior Jordan Hill (Carrollton) won the 200 meter dash in 25.56 seconds and was fifth in the 100 meters in 12.82 seconds. Senior Rebekah Paul (Gibsonburg) placed sixth and tied her season-best in the 400 meters in 59.94 seconds and sophomore Kim Chinn (Zanesville/ West Muskingum) was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:04.74.

The Yellow Jackets return to action at the North Central (Ill.) College "Last Chance" Meet on Friday, May 15 in Naperville, Illinois. The meet is the last opportunity for student-athletes to qualify for the 2009 NCAA Divison III National Championship Meet to be held from May 21-23 at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.

Two Yellow Jackets, Patrick and Phipps are already qualified for the Division III national meet.
