Women’s Tennis Falls to Spring Arbor (Mich.)

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team fell to NAIA Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in a non-conference match on their Spring Break Trip in Orlando by a final score of 8-1.

Doubles (Spring Arbor, 3-0)

  • At No. 1 doubles the pairing of BW's (0-6) senior All-OAC Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and sophomore All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) fell to Abby Ducharme and Lucy Burau by a score of 6-2.
  • Junior Academic All-OAC Lizzy Cole (Shaker Heights) and sophomore Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) dropped No. 2 doubles to Spring Arbor's (12-7) Makenzi Sells and Rebekah Pake by a score of 6-0.
  • At No. 3 doubles, the freshmen pair of Hanna LeMaster (Avon) and Mattie Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.) fell to Sela Clifford and Olivia Creech by score of 6-1.

Singles (Spring Arbor, 8-1)

  • In the No. 1 spot Morris dropped a tight match to Burau by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
  • Heideman picked up the lone point for the Yellow Jackets in the No. 2 spot as she took down Pake by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
  • In the No. 3 spot, Sells took down Yates by scores of 6-2, 6-0.
  • In the No. 4 spot, Cole fell to Creech by scores of 6-2, 6-0.
  • In a close match at No. 5, LeMaster got knocked off by Clifford by scores of 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).
  • In the final match, Trost fell to Morgan Summons by scores of 6-2, 6-1.

BW returns to the court on March 11th when they finish their Spring Break Trip with two matches. The first match begins at 8:00 a.m. against Manhattanville (N.Y.) College. The second match of the day is against Ursinus (Pa.) College and the start time is tba.
