Women’s Tennis Prevails over Muskingum

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team went on the road to face Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Muskingum University and claimed the victory with a score of 7-2 at the Cambridge City Parl.

With the victory, Baldwin Wallace improves to 3-9 (2-1 OAC) and Muskingum falls to 5-9 (1-4).

Doubles (BW 3-0)

  • Senior All-OAC Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and sophomore All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) convincingly won the No. 1 doubles match over Sarah Hafner and Gracie Andrews by a score of 8-1.
  • BW's No. 2 doubles pair Hanna LeMaster (Avon) and Lizzy Cole (Shaker Heights) also claimed victory by a score of 8-1 over Musky's pair of Scarlett Martell and Mandy Plaskett.
  • BW's Sophomore Kierstyn Yates (Norwalk) and sophomore Juliet Penrod (Macedonia/Nordonia) claimed victory in the No. 3 doubles match and defeated the pair of Evelyn Pauquette and Jane Boyer by a score of 8-1.

Singles (BW 7-2)

  • In the No. 1 singles match, Morris fell to Hafner in both sets, losing 6-4 and 6-2.
  • Heideman claimed the victory in the No. 2 singles over Martell, taking both sets with the score of 6-0 and 6-1.
  • Yates took the No. 3 singles match over Pauquette, winning 6-1 and 6-0.
  • The No. 4 singles match went to Muskingum's Plaskett, edging Cole out by a score of 3-6 and 6-3.
  • LeMaster swept Boyer in the No. 5 singles match, claiming both sets by a score of 6-0.
  • Freshman Mattie Hicks (Oneida, N.Y) claimed victory in the finals single match, defeating Kaylee Anstaett by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, April 22 when the team hosts an OAC match against Ohio Northern University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 4:30 p.m.
