Women’s Tennis Competes at ITA Championships

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Over the weekend, the Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Assocaition (ITA) Central Regionals through September 24-26.

In the doubles portion, senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and sophomore All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) teamed up for BW (0-3) at the ITA's. The duo dropped in their first match to Emma Henson and Erin Storrer of Otterbein University by a score of 8-5.

In the singles portion, Morris went 1-1, for an overall record of 1-2.  In the round of 64, Morris defeated Ellen Gardner of DePauw University by scores of 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). In the round of 32, Morris faced off against Lauren Park of the University of Chicago (Ill.) was knocked off by scores of 6-1, 6-1. Heideman went 1-1, for an overall record of 1-2. In her first match, Heideman faced off against Maddie Hurley of Kalamazoo College and won with scores of 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). In her second match, Heideman fell to Randi Hendricks of Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.).

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, October 11 when they travel to Springfield to take on Wittenberg University in the final match of the fall season.
