ORLANDO, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis split their last two matches of their Spring Break Trip in Orlando. In the first match, BW (1-7) took down Manhattanville (N.Y.) College by a final score of 7-2 at Star Island. In the second match of the day, the Yellow Jackets fell to Ursinus (Pa.) College by a final score of 7-2 at the United States Tennis Association Tennis Courts.
Match 1 vs. Manhattanville (4-8)
Doubles (BW, 3-0)
- The No. 1 group of senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Ashtyn Morris (Salem) and sophomore All-OAC Gabriela Heideman (Doylestown/Wadsworth) took down Renay Charley and Bea Pretnar by a score of 4-0.
- In No. 2 doubles, the pair of junior Academic All-OAC Lizzy Cole (Shaker Heights) and Hanna LeMaster (Avon) knocked off Kelsey Ulzheimer and Ella Brown by a score of 8-1.
- BW secured the No.3 doubles point by default due to Manhattanville not having enough players.
Singles (BW, 7-2)
- Sophomore Kierstyn Yates (Grafton/Midview) got the Yellow Jackets on the board in the singles portion with a victory over Charley by a score of 1-0.
- In the No. 2 spot, Pretnar took down freshman Emma Trost (Norwalk) by a score of 4-3.
- In the No. 3 spot, freshman Mattie Hicks (Oneida, N.Y.)) fell to Ulzheimer by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
- In the No. 4 spot, senior Academic All-OAC Kami DiRocco (Akron/Copley) secured a victory over Brown by scores of 6-2 (7-6).
- BW secured the final two match points by default due to Manhattanville not having enough players.
Match 2 vs. Ursinus (4-2)
Doubles (Ursinus, 2-1)
- Morris and Heideman secured their second doubles of the day with an 8-3 victory over Allie Armour and Maddie Russell.
- In the No. 2 spot, Cole and LeMaster fell to Caitlin Vinsonhaler and Avery Samer by a score of 8-6.
- In the No. 3 spot, Claire Burke and Avo Campagnoni took down Yates and Hicks by a score of 8-5.
Singles (Ursinus, 7-2)
- In the No. 1 position, Morris fell in her only singles match of the day to Armour by scores of 7-5, 6-2.
- At No. 2, Heideman also dropped her only singles match of the day to Russell by scores of 7-5, 7-5.
- In the No. 3 position, Yates dropped a close match to Vinsonhaler by scores of 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6).
- In the No. 4 spot, Yates was taken down by Burke by scores of 6-0, 6-1.
- Securing the only singles point for the Yellow Jackets was LeMaster who earned a victory over Shannon Stewart by scores of 6-0, 6-1.
- In the final singles match, Trost fell to Samer by scores of 6-1, 6-2.
BW returns to the courts on Saturday, March 26th when it travels to Oberlin for a non-conference match against Oberlin College at 10 a.m.
