Women’s Tennis Drops Hard Fought Spring Break Match

HILTON HEAD, South Carolina – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis remained dropped a hard fought 5-4 victory against Wilkes (Pa.) College at the Hilton Head Tennis Center

BW (4-5) trailed 2-1 after doubles play.   The number two tandem of junior Academic All-OAC player Claire Watts (Medina/Highland) and senior Mackenzie Donalson (Hilliard/Davidson) picked up the lone victory by a score of 8-2.

In singles play, the Yellow Jackets rallied to win four of six matches to pick up the victory.  Freshman Imani Robinson (Cincinnati /School for Creative & Performing Arts) won at second singles by scores of 6-2, 3-6 and 10-8.  Watts took second singles by scores of 7-6, (12-10 in the tiebreaker) and 6-0. Sophomore Shannon Finkenthal (Beachwood) claimed victory at number six singles by scores of 2-6, 7-6 (7-4 in the tiebreaker) and 10-6.

BW closes out its spring break trip on Wednesday, March 9 when it plays a pair of non-conference matches against Drew (N.J.) University and Olivet (Mich.) College.  The Drew match is scheduled for 9 a.m. and the Olivet match is slated for a 4 p.m.
