Women's Swimming and Diving Teams Picks Up First Win of Season with OAC Victory at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team won its first meet of the season as it captured an Ohio Athletic Conference win over Wilmington College in the Wilmington Natatorium.

BW knocked off the Wilmington by a final score of 124-76.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) as she won the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle in times of 2:23.77 and 5:03.45.

Also earning victories were senior stroker Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South),  junior All-OAC freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele), junior stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), sophomore stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) and freshman stroker Madeleine Pierce (Perry). Onchuck captured the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 30.41 seconds.  Thorson won the 800-yard freestyle in a time of 10:15.00. Clymer earned the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:25.66.  Martello won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:19.03. Pierce touched the wall first in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:11.54. 

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of Pierce, Clymer, junior stroker Alyssa Mahle (Aurora) and Onchuck won in a time of 2:13.34.

BW is back in action on Saturday, November 3 when it hosts Manchester (Ind.) University in its first home dual meet in the BW Natatorium at 1 p.m.
