Women's Swimming Laps Bethany (W.Va.) in Final Meet of 2018

BETHANY, W.VA. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming team closed out the 2018 portion of its schedule as it defeated Bethany (Va.) College in a non-conference dual meet in the John J. Knight Natatorium.

BW (5-2 overall) earned victories in 11 of 13 events.

The Yellow Jackets were led by the trio of junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls), junior All-OAC freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) and freshman stroker Madeleine Pierce (Perry) all won a pair of events.  Nockengost claimed the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard butterfly in times of 2:45.43 and 2:25.07.  Thorson earned victories in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle in times of 2:05.18 and 5:38.75.  Pierce brought home wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle in times of 26.68 and 58.71 seconds.

Also earning victories were senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC stroker Sarah Krupp (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) and junior All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) and freshman stroker Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township).  Krupp claimed the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:36.19.  Jacob touched the wall first in the 1,650-yard freestyle in a time of 19:27.20.  McClintock earned the victory in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:32.39.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relay teams picked up the victories in times of 2:03.96 and 9:12.47. 

BW is now idle until 2019.   The Yellow Jackets return to action on Friday, January 11 when it travels to Canton for a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the C.T. Branin Natatorium at 6 p.m.
