Women's Swimming and Diving Team Drops Meet to NCAA Division II Rollins (Fla.)

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team closed out the 2018 portion of its schedule as it was defeated by NCAA Division II Rollins (Fla.) College on its annual winter break trip.

BW (5-3) was knocked off by Rollins by a final score of 111-73.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior Academic All-OAC stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence) and junior All-OAC stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) each claimed one victory.   Clymer earned first in the 50-yard breaststroke in a career-best time of 33.59 seconds.   Nockengost won the 50-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 28.41 and was third in 50-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 34.52.

Earning a pair of runner-up finishes was freshman stroker Madeleine Pierce (Perry) as she took second in the 50-yard backstroke and 100-yard individual medley in a 50-back time of 29.46 and a 100-IM career-best time of 1:03.77.

In addition, senior freestyler Claire Onchuck (Darrien, Ill./Hinsdale South) was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.25.  Junior All-OAC freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) was the runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:24.72. Freshman stroker Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) was the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 2:11.96. Junior freestyler Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.) finished third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 27.46. Junior All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) took third in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:12.53. 

In relay action, the 200-yard medley team of Pierce, Clymer, Nockengost and Onchuck took second in a time of 1:55.04.  The 200-yard freestyle unit of sophomore stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky), Ball, freshman stroker Emily Newcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and McClintock finished second in a season-best time of 1:53.74 

BW is now idle until after the Holiday Break when they travel to Canton on Friday, January 11 for a non-conference dual meet against NCAA Division II Malone University in the C.T. Branin Natatorium at 7 p.m.
