Women's Swimming and Diving Suffers First OAC Loss to Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team drop its first Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet to the University Mount Union in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (3-2, 1-1 OAC) was defeated by the Mount Union by a final score of 150-90. 

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) and junior All-OAC stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls) and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) as the trio each won an event.  Jacob took first in the 1000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 11:26.74.  Nockengost captured the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 1:02.60.  Thorson earned the victory in the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:32.03.

In addition, freshman stroker Madeleine Pierce (Perry) was the runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle in a 50-free time of 25.82 seconds and career-best 100-free time of 56.81. Freshman stroker Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:08.31.  Junior stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence) was the runner-up in the 1-meter six dive event with 173.33 points and took third in the 100-yard breaststroke in a  season-best time of 1:12.09

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay unit of Pierce, Clymer, Thorson and Onchuck won in a season-best time of 1:55.54.  The 200-yard freestyle quad of junior freestyler Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.), McClintock, sophomore stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) and Nockengost took second in a season-best time of 1:49.25

BW closes out its three-meet homestand on Saturday, November 10 when it hosts a non-conference dual meet against Penn State Behrend College at 1 p.m.
