Women’s Swimming and Diving Beats Penn State Behrend

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving teams notched a non-conference victory over Penn State Behrend College in the last of three consecutive home meets inside the BW Natatorium.

BW (4-2, 1-1 Ohio Athletic Conference) defeated the Lions by a margin of 126-102.

The Yellow Jackets picked up wins in six different individual events from freshman freestyler Madeleine Pierce (Perry), junior All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley), junior All-OAC stroker/diver Ellie Clymer (Independence), junior All-OAC freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) and junior All-OAC stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls). Clymer led the way by winning two separate events – the 200-yard breaststroke by touching the wall in 2:41.27 and the 1-meter six-dive event with a season-best 168.35 points. Pierce notched a win in the 100-yard freestyle in 57.87 seconds. Jacob won her first 400-yard individual medley in swimming 5:02.25 while her fellow junior All-OAC performers in Thorson and Nockengost won the 500-yard freestyle and the 200-yard butterfly, respectively, in times of 5:29.45 and 2:24.80, respectively.

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of Pierce, Clymer, junior stroker Alyssa Mahle (Aurora) and Onchuck kicked off the meet in the right way with a victory in a time of 1:59.45.

BW will compete again at the two-day Diamond City Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 17-18, hosted by King's (Pa.) College at the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
