Women's Swimming and Diving Teams Win Third Straight Over Manchester (Ind.) and NCAA Division II Ursuline

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University mwomen's swimming and diving team opened the home portion of its scheduled by defeating Manchester (Ind.) University and NCAA Division II Ursuline College in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center.

BW (3-1), who won its third straight knocked off the Spartans by a final score of 143-36 as well as Ursuline by a final score of 143-34.

The Yellow Jackets were led by junior All-Ohio Athketic Conference freestyler Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) and freshmen strokers Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and Madeleine Pierce (Perry) as the trio all won a pair of events.   Thorson touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle in season-best time of 2:23.91 in the 200-IM and a time of 5:34.13 in the 500-free.  McClintock won the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle in career-best times of 1:08.15 and 2:11.14.  Pierce captured the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle in a 50-free time of 26.41 seconds and a career-best 100-free time of 58.55 seconds.

Also earning victories were junior stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), junior All-OAC freestyler Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley), and junior All-OAC stroker Erika Nockengost (Cuyahoga Falls).  Clymer earned the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 1:14.20.  Jacob captured the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:41.68.  Nockengost won the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 1:03.91. 

In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay squad of Pierce, Clymer, junior stroker Alyssa Mahle (Aurora) and sophomore stroker Lauren Martello (Huron/Sandusky) won in a time of 2:02.61.  The 400-yard freestyle team of Thorson, McClintock, senior stroker Claire Onchuck (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South) picked up the win in a time of 4:00.98.

BW remains at home on Friday, November 9 when it hosts an OAC dual meet against the University of Mount Union at 7 p.m.  The Yellow Jackets then host a non-conference dual meet against Penn State Behrend College on Saturday, November 10 at 1p.m.
