Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls to Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio – In the first dual meet of the season, the Baldwin Wallace University women's swimming and diving team fell to Ohio Wesleyan University in non-conference action inside the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center.

BW (0-1) fell by a final score of 151-82 to the Battling Bishops (1-0).

Two junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference freestylers in Olivia Jacob (Canton/McKinley) and Allie Thorson (Amherst/Marion Steele) won their respective events. Jacob won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:37.35 while Thorson took the 500-yard freestyle in 5:33.10 with Jacob coming in second in 5:41.78. Thorson also finished as the runner-up in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.87.

In her first collegiate dual meet, freshman freestyler Madeleine Pierce (Perry) had two separate runner-up finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke in times of 25.61 seconds and 1:02.45. Junior freestyler Jenna Ball (Salamanca, N.Y.) also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle which she finished in 1:00.55.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Pierce, junior Academic All-OAC stroker Ellie Clymer (Independence), junior stroker Alyssa Mahle (Aurora) and senior freestyler Claire Onchuck (Darrien, Ill./Hinsdale South) took second in a time of 1:54.70. Finishing off the night was Thorson, Ball, freshman freestyler Kayla McClintock (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and Jacob in the 400-yard freestyle relay, placing second in 4:00.31.

BW opens OAC action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when the Yellow Jackets travel to take on Wilmington College at 1 p.m. inside the Wilmington Natatorium.
