Men’s Wrestling Competes at Trine (Ind.) Invitational

ANGOLA, Ind. – Select members of the Baldwin Wallace University men's wrestling team competed at the unscored the Trine University Invitational inside the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Inc. Athletic and Recreation Center. 

BW had two runner-up finishers and three other placers.

Junior 133-pounder Brett Blaess (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) – Second Place

  • Won a 17-0 technical fall over Dominic Megdanoff of Alma (Mich.)
  • Won by pinfall in1:39 over Zimani Malomboza of Indiana Institute of Technology
  • Won a 21-0 technical fall over Ben Edwards of Trine
  • Won a 10-0 major decision over Steven Garty of Indiana Institute of Technology
  • Lost an 11-8 decision to Elijah Anthony of Indiana Institute of Technology

Sophomore 157-pounder Manny Scordos (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) – Second Place

  • Bye in first round
  • Won an 11-3 major decision over Carson Baumgardner of Campbellsville (Ky.)
  • Won an 8-6 decision over Travis Richardson on Heidelberg
  • Won an 18-1 technical fall over Carter Melonio of Alma (Mich.)
  • Lost an 8-6 decision to Ramiro Guerrero of Olivet (Mich.) 

Junior 184-pounder Carter Lloyd (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) – Fourth Place

  • Won by pinfall in 4:16 over Durell Kline of Rochester (N.Y.)
  • Won a 6-4 decision over Kiernan Sherwood of Campbellsville (Ky.)
  • Won a 13-3 major decision over David Bortz of Indiana Institute of Technology
  • Lost a 11-4 sudden victory decision to Ethan Risner of Manchester (Ind.)
  • Won a 9-4 decision over Gideon Loewen of Olivet (Mich.)
  • Lost a 9-4 decision to David Bortz of Indiana Institute of Technology

Freshman 165-pounder Andrew Supers (Medina) – Fourth Place

  • Won a 16-1 technical fall over Easton Hull of Wisconsin-Stevens Point
  • Won by pinfall in 1:57 over Brenden Kurtze of Alma (Mich.)
  • Lost by pinfall in 51 seconds to Jake Hurst of Campbellsville (Ky.)
  • Won a 15-0 technical fall over Juwan Vines of Olivet (Mich.)
  • Won an 8-4 decision over Carson Pottenger of Heidelberg

Sophomore 174-pounder Remington Bauer (Norwalk/Edison) – Sixth Place

  • Won a 15-0 technical fall over Aydin Wagner of Rochester (N.Y.)
  • Won by pinfall in 1:41 over Mark Stanton of Trine
  • Lost by pinfall in 1:30 to Carson Trotzer of Wisconsin - Stevens Point
  • Won a 5-4 decision over Aiden Carr of Olivet (Mich.)
  • Won an 18-2 technical fall over Trey Tobias of Trine
  • Lost an 11-1 major decision to Landon Buchanan of Indiana Institute of Technology
  • Lost by no contest to Mitchell Reynolds of Olivet (Mich.)

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, November 14 when they travel to Tiffin for the Ohio Athletic Conference opener against Heidelberg University in the Seiberling Gymnasium at 7 p.m. 

The annual BW Invitational will be contested on Saturday, November 18 in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse at 10 a.m.
