No. 6 Men’s Wrestling Finishes Fourth at 59th North Central (Ill.) Invitational

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The No. 6 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University men's wrestling team finished in fourth place at the 59th North Central College Invitational inside Residence Hall.

BW, who was one of five teams ranked in the top-10, placed fourth of 16 teams with 111 points. The Yellow Jackets had eight top six placers, including one champions and one runner-up. No. 1 nationally ranked and defending NCAA Division III National Champion Augsburg (Minn.) University was the champion with 180 points.

Senior All-American Michael Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley), who is ranked No. 2 nationally at 157 pounds - Champion

Senior All-American and No. 4 nationally ranked 285-pounder Doug Byrne (Wickliffe) – Second Place

  • Won by fall pinfall in 56 seconds over Trace Goemaat of Simpson (Iowa)
  • Won by pinfall in 2:44 over Cam`ron Harper of Aurora (Ill.)
  • Won a 14-4 major decision over Spencer Brewton of Wisconsin-La Crosse
  • Won by pinfall in 2:05 over No. 12 nationally ranked Robby Bates of North Central
  • Lost by pinfall in 4:51 to No. 1 nationally ranked Tyler Kim of Augsburg

BW is back in action on Saturday, December 16 when it travels to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in the Gator Boot Duals hosted by Luther (Iowa) College at the McGavock High School.  Wrestling is slated to begin at 9 a.m.
