Wrestlers Fall to OAC Rival Muskingum in Berea

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team fell by a score of 23-12 to visiting Muskingum College tonight (January 6, 2009) at the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.

With the loss, BW falls to 1-13 overall and 0-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Muskingum improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the OAC.

Trailing 7-0, Baldwin Wallace picked up its first victory of the night when senior 157-pounder Joe Incorvaia (Medina/Highland) picked up a 3-0 decision over Muskingum's Mitch King. The Jackets then pulled to within 7-6 when sophomore Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) earned a 3-1 decision over Chris Farrington at 174 pounds. Muskingum won at 184 and 285 then picked up a forfeit at 125 to move ahead 23-6. BW senior Brian Bucher (Ottawa Hills/Avon Lake) was victorious over Chip Halko at 133 to improve his mark to 16-3 on the season and sophomore Phil Payne (Woodmere/Orange) earned an 8-5 decision versus Luke Caracofe to bring the final score to 23-12.

BW returns to action this weekend at the Lycoming (Pa.) College Budd Whitehill Duals in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Action will began at 9:00 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday, January 9-10. The Jackets then host OAC-rival Heidelberg College on Tuesday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Berea. A film crew from ESPN will be on BW's campus from Jan. 11-15 to film junior heavyweight Terence Haynes (Brunswick Hills/Glenville)for a future episode of E60.
