BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team finished with a 0-3 record at the 2008 season-opening Quad Meet today (Saturday, November 8, 2008) in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium of the Lou Higgins Recreation Center in Berea.

 

The Yellow Jackets lost to the College of Mount St. Joseph, 32-12, in their first match, then lost to 30th-ranked Lycoming (Pa.) College, 30-10, in their second match and then lost to Thiel (Pa.) College, 32-12, in their final match.  The College of Mount St. Joseph finished the quad meet with a 3-0 record, while Lycoming had a 2-1 record and Thiel was 1-2.

 

Leading the way for the Brown and Gold grapplers were seniors Brian Bucher (Ottawa Hills) at 133 pounds and Joe Incorvaia (Medina/ Highland) at 165 pounds, and sophomores Korey Leonhard (Kinsman/ Pymatuning Valley) at 174 pounds and Andrew Scavuzzo (Cuyahoga Heights/ Woodridge) at 184 pounds, who all had two victories.  Senior 157-pounder Scott Haber (Brook Park/ Parma Normandy) scored two pin falls in exhibitions matches.

 

In the first round against Mt. St. Joseph, the Yellow Jackets recorded wins by Bucher, Incorvaia, Scavuzzo, and freshman Ryan Tudor (Pataskala/ Watkins Memorial) at 197 pounds. Haber (Brook Park/ Parma Normandy) recorded a pin in a 157-pound exhibition match.

 

Despite the loss to Lycoming, Bucher scored a victory at 133 pounds.  In addition to Bucher, freshman Alex Feador (North Olmsted) won at 165 pounds and Leonhard won at 174 pounds.  Haber recorded his second pin of the day in an exhibition match at 157 pounds.

 

Despite the loss to Thiel, Incorvaia came away with a victory at 165 pounds and Leonhard scored a victory in the 174 pound weight class.  At 184 pounds, Scavuzzo won by injnury fall.

 

The Yellow Jackets are back in action next Saturday, Nov. 15 when they travel to Olivet, Michigan to participate in the Olivet College Duals. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
